Are Branded Crates the Way Forward in the Removal Industry? Crate rental specialist PHS Teacrate has seen a dramatic rise in contracts for ‘branded crates’. During the last six months alone seven companies have signed three-year exclusive contracts for crates bearing their own name and corporate colours. PHS Teacrate has supplied branded crates to many of its larger removal customers such as Premier Moves for many years, but now smaller companies are realising the benefits. Nick Burke, national sales manager for PHS Teacrate said: “The crate hire market isn’t always known for its customer loyalty and like most industries it can be price driven. This often leads to a poor service from the supplier and unmarked crates can pose their own problems in terms of tracking. All in all it can give the industry in general a poor reputation, especially as other companies often find it difficult to meet our service levels of 98.7%. By committing to branded crates we can guarantee our customers set prices and stock levels. This means we can fulfil our same day, or next day delivery service promise. Branded crates are easier to control and trace and give our customers a higher profile by re-enforcing their brand.” Assured Office Solutions Ltd, based in Hampshire and Surrey, is a full service facilities company providing office relocation, furniture rental, storage and other office services is one of PHS Teacrate’s latest recruits to the branded crate service. “Our main reason for changing to branded crates was to promote our brand identity and quality of service,” said contract manager Jimmy Docherty. “Everywhere our crates go our name goes with them, it makes sense to promote ourselves rather than the company that supplied the crates.” Another company specialising in the office facilities sector, Wagstaff Interiors Group has also become a convert to the branded crate option. “We have a number of offices and distribution centres all over the UK and originally chose to work with PHS Teacrate because they could give us national coverage. They were one of the first companies to offer branded crates in the UK and we decided that was the way forward. They look more professional than unbranded crates and help us to carry through our corporate message,” said Wagstaff’s Kevin Howell. PHS Teacrate is confident that the demand for branded crates will continue to increase and has invested heavily in tooling and equipment to service this rapidly developing market.
