Modular Automation International Helps Manufacturers Set Realistic Budgets

Birmingham automation specialist Modular Automation International is urging manufacturers to discus new projects with its design team before setting a budget for assembly equipment. 

Manufacturers frequently set a budget before talking to the engineers that will be designing the equipment needed for assembly and that, claims Modular, often results in a compromise if the budget is too low, or a waste of capital if it’s too high.

“We want manufacturers to talk to us at an early stage of a new product’s design so that we can discuss the best methods of assembly and set a realistic budget for developing efficient production equipment,” said Modular’s operations manager Mark Higgins.   “It’s much better to establish a ‘ball park figure’ at the start of a project than to fix the budget first and then work around it.”

Recently Modular launched its free design consultancy service to help manufacturers design products that are automation friendly; by bringing finance into the equation the company aims to ensure that new projects are not jeopardised by unrealistic budgeting.

Modular’s sales manager Mark Hendry said: “This is an important addition to our consultation service, we’ve seen lots of new products that never fly just because of poor budgeting.  We want to change all that and help manufacturers fix the right level of financing for successful production.  We do of course guarantee total confidentiality, and although we aim to forge new business relationships, no one using the service will be under any obligation to place work with us after the consultation.”
